BlueChip was incorporated in December 1998 and Enterprise Equity initially invested in the business in May 2001. The company has developed a number of innovative technologies in the area of voice recognition and markets a voice activated telephone switchboard system under the ASC brand.

Its primary product is Guardian, a hosted mobile phone based service providing a simple to operate and low cost personal security solutions for lone workers and other vulnerable staff. The product was originally targeted at the public sector such as health professionals working in the community and is the only such system endorsed by the Suzi Lampugh Trust and is recommended by the public sector union UNISON. Recently it has also developed some exciting applications in the private sector.

Using their mobile phone, users who are registered with Guardian (under a mutli-user contract with BlueChip) are able to “log-on” to the system and enter the details and expected duration of a particular visit. If they fail to “log-off” when the visit is scheduled to end, Guardian will automatically trigger a pre-arranged escalating alert routine. Alternatively, the system can be used to trigger an alarm at any stage by an employee.
